Ethical Sourcing and Representation

Our Ethical Sourcing & Representation Policies

It’s important to us to know that the gemstones we cut are sourced ethically and sustainably. We will not knowingly purchase gem rough that was mined in any way that is unfair or exploitative to the mine workers, ecologically damaging, using child labor or otherwise unethical practices.

While there are no specific industry standards for the term “ethical sourcing”, we build relationships with trustworthy dealers and miners that we know are following proper social, ecological and ethical standards. As it would be impossible to personally monitor every gem that is mined from the Earth, we trust that our sources are following good standards and practices. If we feel any source is not diligent or transparent enough about their practices, we will not purchase from them.

All of our gems are evaluated by an experienced lab gemologist, and we hold high regard to transparency about treatments, origin and proper species identification. While we do not certify all of our gems by default, we are happy to provide certification from a respected major gemological laboratory for an additional charge of the incurred lab fees. If you are interested in lab certification of a gem you plan on purchasing or have purchased from us, please contact us and we can arrange for the lab analysis and certification.
